LEEDS UNITED v SCUNTHORPE UNITED

Rain was falling heavily when this game commenced last evening on the ground of the Leeds United club. Naturally the turf was in a very slippery condition, but in spite of the handicap some interesting play was witnessed. The home team contained players on trial from the Newcastle District, as well asmen from the Leeds Malvern Club. Malia, at outside-left for Leeds, gave a promising display in the first half, but was not supplied with the ball afterwards. Both goalkeepers played well. Each goal was in danger of falling in the first half on several occasions, but as the forward work was more individualistic than combined the defences prevailed, and the teams, without leaving the field, commenced the second half without a goal having been scored. The home eleven had slightly the better of the exchanges in this portion, and had a less skilful goalkeeper been between the Scunthorpe posts than Hanna, several goals would probably been registered against them. But, as in the first half, no scoring took place, and the match ended in a pointless draw.
